THE CHESHIRE CAT

In the center of Cheshy’s face, his nose is depicted as a mushroom from which the Caterpillar exhales smoke from his hookah (lower right). The hookah hose loops around a white droplet on the right, forming one eye, while the smoke curls around a droplet on the left, creating the other eye. This smoke transforms into Alice (lower left). The White Rabbit appears in four places, frantically navigating the maze. A larger water droplet enters the top of the cat’s head, symbolizing the rabbit hole we all have access to.

The original 24 x 36 inch ink piece resides in a private collection in Toronto.
